Default HSR/HCT stacking?

do multiple HSR/HCT mods/inscriptions stack (like if you used a HCT mod on a wand and a HCT mod on an offhand, would they stack to 40%)?
im confused because i heard that they only stack to 30% or something like that... just wanted to get it straight

They don't really stack, but they do work together. For example, if you have two 20% chancers, you won't have a 40% chance, but will have two checks at 20%, IE 64% chance of nothing, 32% chance of applying bonus once and a 4% chance of the effect applying twice.

Yeah that's called stacking, it doesn't stack the HSR/HCT though it just stacks the % of getting a HSR/HCT.

Actually, assuming I understand what jrk247 is saying, it does stack the bonuses. If you have a wand and offhand, each offering HSR and HCT at 20% and both HSR's trigger, you will get a very fast recharge on the skill they triggered on, 25% of the normal rate.

Yes, but HSR and HCT are 2 different things thats what he was trying to say.

If you have a wand and a off hand that both say 20% half skill recharge , then yes those 2 can stack the max is 36% , not 40% , like you would think.

It check for each one seperatly, you have 20% of getting half recharge from wand, then you have another 20% of getting half recharge from off hand, then you have a 36 % of getting a 75% faster recharge.I think im missing another one, but cant remember now.

Sooo wrong.

In the situation above (so with 2* 20% chance on faster recharge) the chances are:

4% on a 75% faster recharge (however there is a cap at 50%)
36% on a 50% faster recharge
60% on no faster recharge

AFAIK the HSR/HCT times don't stack the chance for the HSR/HCT to kick in does though. So stuff would be casted or recharged more often, not the actual times being changed.

4% on a 75% faster recharge (however there is a cap at 50%) (0.2*0.2 both mods trigger)
32% on a 50% faster recharge (0.8*0.2+0.2*0.8: first mod triggers, second doesn't + the other way around)
64% on no faster recharge (0.8*0.8 no mod triggers)
